Army Facilitates Renovation of School Building for IP Children in Abra

    FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija -- In time for the opening of face-to-face classes, the troops of the 71st Infantry (KAIBIGAN) Battalion along with the local government officials facilitated the turn-over ceremony of the newly-renovated school building for the Indigenous Peoples children in Brgy. Tabacda, Tubo, Abra on March 03, 2022.

    The project was the result of the implementation of the 71IB’s Community Support Program in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) and conflict-affected communities in partnership with the different stakeholders, especially One Arellano Builders Inc.

    One of the issues and concerns raised by the teachers and parents during the consultation was the need for the renovation of the old school building of Tabacda Primary School.

    Then Commanding Officer of 71IB, LTC Sonny E Gonzales partnered with One Arellano Builders Incorporated for the renovation of the school building.

    During the turnover ceremony, the CSP team also distributed school supplies and coloring books to 39 pupils of Tabacda Primary School.

    “We are grateful to the support of the Army and its stakeholders for the realization of this project. We highly appreciate their joint efforts as our young and eager learners are provided with better school facilities conducive to learning,” said Mrs. Loreta Ignacio, Head Teacher.

    LTC Michael B. Bautista, Acting Commanding Officer of 71IB attributed the success of the project with the immeasurable support of its stakeholders to the Army’s CSP that benefits the school children in the IP community.

    Meanwhile, the Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army, MGen Andrew D Costelo PA, lauded the collaborative efforts of the 71IB that benefited the school children of Brgy. Tabacda, Tubo, Abra by giving them a safe space for learning.

    “On behalf of the troops of 7ID, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to our stakeholders on the ground for their relentless support of our campaign,” said MGen Costelo.
