Army’s 91IB, PNP seize CTG’s lair in Aurora

Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – A Communist Terrorist Group's (CTGs) lair was seized by troops of the 91st Infantry "Sinagtala" Battalion, Philippine Army together with the personnel of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (1PMFC) of the Aurora Police Provincial Office (APPO) at the boundary of Barangay Bazal and Diaat, Maria Aurora at around 2:30 p.m. on March 18, 2021.
According to Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, commander of 91IB, the discovery of an abandoned enemy’s lair was due to the prompt giving of information from the civilians in the community.
Said lair was believed to be abandoned by the remnants of weakened KLG-SM (Komiteng Larangang Gerilya - Sierra Madre) and can accommodate more or less 10 members of the CTG.
“The recent discovery of the authorities of the CTG lair and the recovery of personal belongings and some kitchen utensils indicate that the remnants of weakened KLG-SM are now on the run to evade government security forces,” said LTC Rubio.
“We are calling the remnants of KLG-SM to give-up the armed struggle and reunite with your loved ones. Our government is waiting for you and willing to assist your needs to live peacefully,” LTC Rubio added.
Brigadier General Andrew D. Costelo, commander of 703rd Infantry Brigade, recognized the support of the community to the efforts of the Army and PNP to eradicate the influence of the CTG in their locality.
“The support of the people is indispensable in our goal to end the local communist armed conflict, that is why we are calling for their consistent support throughout the government’s campaign for peace and development,” said BGen. Costelo.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr., said that the act of the enemy in leaving behind their lair a few days before the NPA’s anniversary on March 29, is an indication of demoralization due to successive losses in combat operations and withdrawal of support of their Underground Mass Organizations.
