Army, PNP conduct 9-day Combat Open Refresher Training in Aurora

    Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – In a bid to sharpen the combat skills and enhance the unit’s capability, troops of the 91st Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army and members of the Philippine National Police in the province of Aurora conducted a 9-day Combat Open Refresher Training from January 26 to February 3, 2021.

    Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio, Commanding Officer of the 91IB, said that the training was part of the Army and PNP’s commitment to eradicate the communist influence in the countryside.

    “The Army and the PNP are determined to strengthen their capacity for combat operation to the highest level to end the local communist armed conflict and to prevent casualty in the government side,” said Lt. Col. Rubio. Further, the training is in line with the guidance of Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr., Commander of the Army's 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division.

    The main focus of the activity was to review all Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) of the troops during combat operations such Harboring Procedure, First Aid, and the importance of squad/fire team integrity, among others. Field Training Exercise was the highlight of the activity as it calls for the application of all learning incurred in the training duration.

    The said training was participated by five 91IB Officers; 52 Enlisted Personnel; 11 CAA; and nine PNP members. It culminated on February 03, 2021, wherein P/Col Julio A. Lizardo, OIC Provincial Director of Aurora Police Provincial Office (APPO) served as the keynote speaker represented by P/LTCOL Abraham B. Hambon, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration (DPDA) of APPO who also served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker in the Closing Ceremony.

    In his message, P/LTCOL Hambon said that the shared responsibility of the Army and PNP in combatting insurgency is continuously prevailing up to this day. He believes that the joint efforts of the army and police, accompanied with the competitive training initiated by the unit, will significantly contribute to the overall security and peace efforts of the government in preventing the terroristic activities of the CPP-NPA.

    Lt. Col. Rubio complimented the Battalion Staff and NCOs for their collective efforts as it was one of the big factors in the successful realization of the said training program.

    In his message, Lt. Col. Rubio stressed the importance of the training, wherein he believes that with the religious acquisition and application of all the learnings acquired during the whole training period, he is confident that the troops are now much equipped with combat skills and are ready to perform positively and exceptionally in carrying out the mission for combat operations.

    Meanwhile, Major General Alfredo V. Rosario Jr. commended the participants of the said activity, highlighting the strong commitment of both security forces to strengthen their capabilities in the performance of their duties especially in ending the local communists’ armed conflict.

    “Ang pagsasanay na ito ay magpapatibay pa sa ating hangarin na wakasan ang kaguluhan at panlilinlang na dulot ng mga teroristang grupo. Binabati ko ang lahat ng nagsipag tapos sa pagsasanay na ito at inaasahan natin ang mas pinalakas pang kasundaluhan at kapulisan na po-protekta sa kapayapaan,” said Major General Rosario Jr.
