69IB facilitates the creation of Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Quezon, Nueva Ecija

    Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – A Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) was created in Quezon, Nueva Ecija on August 14, 2019.

    Mayor Mariano Cristino N. Joson of Quezon, Nueva Ecija signed and issued Executive Order No. 21, series of 2019, creating the Municipal Task Force ELCAC.

    The 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army headed by Lieutenant Colonel Arcadio S. Posada facilitated the creation of said Task Force ELCAC through a series of meetings and dialogues in coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU), Municipal Local Government Operations Officer, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and other stakeholders in the municipality.

    Major General Lenard T. Agustin, upon learning of the development, said that the “whole of nation approach” under Executive Order No. 70 has indeed enabled local government units to finally step up and do something about the problem of insurgency.

    “Through the creation of the Municipal Task Force ELCAC of Quezon, Nueva Ecija, the town has empowered its people to finally prevent local communist terrorist from sowing fear into the community. Indeed, things get better when we all work towards a common goal. That is the power of the ‘whole of nation approach’,” added Major General Agustin.

    Lieutenant Colonel Posada expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the LGU, PNP, Liga ng mga Barangay and other stakeholders for their commitment and support to the unit to accomplish its mission.
