3rd Mechanized Battalion assists in Dengue Awareness and Preparedness Campaign

    Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – The 3rd Mechanized Infantry (Makatarungan) Battalion, together with the local government unit of San Jose, Tarlac, conducted a Dengue Awareness Campaign and immunization at Sitio Agus and Sitio Tala, both of Barangay Burgos, San Jose, Tarlac on 14 August 2019.

    The Dengue Awareness and Preparedness Campaign supports the 4S Strategy of the Department of Health (DOH) which stands for Search and destroy, Seek early consultation, Self-protection measures and Say yes to fogging only during outbreaks.

    Captain Richard Espinosa, Company Commander, 32nd Mechanized Coy; in partnership with Barangay Chairman Gregorio R. Laoang, of Barangay Burgos, San Jose, Tarlac; and personnel from the Municipal Health Office of San Jose headed by Dr. Leo G. Tarectecan, conducted said Campaign.

    Simultaneous with the Campaign was the conduct of immunization under the National Immunization Program of the government. A total 50 individuals were immunized with measles vaccine, while another 50 were given flu vaccine.

    Commenting on the activity, Major General Lenard T. Agustin, Commander of the Army’s 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, said that with the announcement of the DOH of Dengue being a national epidemic, stricter measures should be implemented to prevent the spreading of the virus. He further said that the Philippine Army, specifically the 7ID, is ready to give its services whenever needed.
