7ID Facilitates Awarding of Certificate of Registration to Farmers’ Organizations in Nueva Ecija

The 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion under the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army orchestrated the awarding of Certificates of Registration to five farmers’ organizations in Guimba, Nueva Ecija at 9:30 in the morning last January 31, 2019.

The registration of the five farmers’ organizations was through the effort of the Community Support Program (CSP) of 69IB.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Office, Business Hub, Palayan City.

Lieutenant Colonel Arcadio S Posada, Commanding Officer of 69IB and Mr. Arnelio Ocampo, Supervising Labor Employment Officer of DOLE-Nueva Ecija led the awarding of the Certificate of Registration to the farmers’ organizations.

The five organizations are Nagkakaisang Magsasaka ng Manggang Marikit (N&3Ms), Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Bagong Barrio (SMB), Samahan at Kaisang Magsasaka ng Yuson (SAKAMAY), Samahan ng Manggagawang Bukid ng San Agustin (SMBSA), and Magsasakang Manananim ng Manggang Marikit (4Ms). These farmers’ organizations have a total of 531 members who are all residents of Guimba, Nueva Ecija.

It can be recalled that 69IB has been instrumental in ending the 34-year dispute between Listasaka and Malayang Aniban ng Magsasaka sa Manggang Marikit, Bagong Barrio at Yuson (MAMBAYU). Listasaka was the beneficiary of the 82-hectare parcel in Hacienda Davis while MAMBAYU forcibly tilled and farmed the said land. MAMBAYU was backed by left leaning organizations connected to Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs). 69IB facilitated the signing of the Memorandum of Compromise-Agreement last December 12, 2018 which is also an accomplishment of their CSP.

69IB supported the farmers’ organizations by facilitating the process and the submission of their documentary requirements to give them identity in order to become legitimate organizations.

Brigadier General Lenard T Agustin AFP, Acting Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division commended the efforts of the 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion. He also expressed his gratitude to the local officials of Guimba led by Hon. Mayor Jose R Dizon for passing resolutions for the recognition of farmers organization and to the officials of DOLE-Nueva Ecija.

BGen Agustin added that the partnership between the military, local government and the other agencies of government is very vital in countering insurgency as well as resolving social issues.

Lieutenant Colonel Arcadio Posada, Commanding Officer 69IB, said that the Cougar Troopers are always ready to help the people not only in attaining peace and order but also in achieving development and progress in the community.
