A former member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Abra surrendered to the 24th Infantry (Wildcat) Battalion, 7ID, PA on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 5:00 in the afternoon.

    The former rebel voluntarily yielded with a Winchester M14 rifle.

    The returnee is known as @Tino who is a former member of Milisyang Bayan in Brgy. Naguilian, Sallapadan, Abra with a position of a logistic officer. He sought refuge from the military after leaving the armed group for he is scared for his life and his family.

    According to @Tino, he already wanted to surrender before but the CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) threatened him. He also shared that the Community Support Program Teams (CSPs) were instrumental to his renunciation for he had proven that all of the statements of the NPAs against the government are not true.

    Brigadier General Henry A Robinson Jr AFP, Commander of the 702nd Infantry (Defender) Brigade said that they will coordinate with the local government and ensure that @Tino will receive the benefits and privileges under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP).

    Major General Felimon T Santos Jr AFP, Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, lauded the efforts of the 24IB and all those who are responsible to the surrender of @Tino. He once again encouraged all those who wanted to go back to the folds of the government and live a normal life.

    “I would like to ensure that the gates of 7ID are always open to those who want to surrender. We will keep you safe and your family,” said MGen Santos.
